Weekly, then? May Flowers and Doodles

twigs and leaf
Is it that I’m just waiting for more to happen before I post something here? Or is it that I just take way to long to string a couple sentences together to form the appearance of cohesive thought? Hmmm… tough one. I guess I could just start filling this thing with profoundly meaningful posts like: “slept in today… watched some stuff on TiVo… cleaned out the cat-box. Stinky-pew!” Until then, perhaps weekly is just fine?

This rain is driving us bonkers, and we figured April would come around and give us all a break—but so far, no luck. Said rain seems also to bring with it lots of little projects. The first of which will be doing some producing and recording for Peter Daldry, a traditional Celtic singer/songwriter. That should prove to be a fun project, as I’ll by putting my new recording set-up through its paces.

I was thumbing through some old notebooks at work, laughing at all the caricatures of past and present co-workers. I came across this little doodle that somehow must have fired some dormant neuron or something… because it stuck there in my head (okay, it helped to grab it with my phone [no scanner within eye shot] and email it to my gallery) and now has gestated into an actual half-baked concept for a painting I’ll be attempting to slap together. I even sat down at the drawing board (yes, my studio has an actual drawing board) and started to flesh-out the idea a bit. The bigger story behind this has yet to be told (or possibly fabricated) but it involves the next step in the “evolution” of my illustration work. But we’ll beat that highfalutin dead horse another post.

Things I’ve learned this week:

  • Unreal Tournament is a way-cool game (reinstalled it on my mini today) but not as cool as the old-school version.
  • Mark Twain was probably the smartest person. Ever.
  • Switching to daylight savings time is nearly as fun as it was when I was a kid.
  • Doritos Fiery Habenro flavored chips are indeed fiery. (Bonus: that’s got to be one the most superfluous and gratuitous flash sites I’ve seen recently)
