V for Vernado

The Fan I wanted to do something creative this afternoon. But I didn't. I dusted the fan. I had every intention to spend the lazy afternoon messing around in the studio, as is generally the plan, but I needed to do a little tidying up first. First it was my desk. Then of course, the contents of the bookshelf needed adjustment. All the rouge pencils on my drawing table were next, followed by the brushes and pens. The cables streaming over the sides of the desk were calling out for dressing—so they were nicely tubed up. The window screen fell out three weeks ago, so I put that back in. Then there was the fan: my trusty little vornado air-circulator. I was about to flick it on when I happened to take a good, close look at all the dust that had collected on the blades and casing—about 8 year's worth, maybe. So I sat there on the floor with a roll of paper towels, a can of Endust, and my dusty dusty fan and got to work… not doing anything creative. How about you? What is your modus procrastinoria? In other matters, some things I've learned recently:
  • Cinderella Man was a better movie than I thought it was going to be. I also liked it a little more that I thought I would. Ditto for The Weatherman.
  • In-n-Out's fries taste much better if you order them well-done.
  • Taking a picture of oneself, and actually halfway liking the result, is kind of a hard thing to do sometimes.
  • If you hang a wetsuit in the bathroom down the hall, every time you glance that direction, you will think there's a guy hanging in your shower.
  • If you don't keep your front door locked, a random stranger may just enter ('cause no one answered the door, or course) asking for Mary, and then run away whilst apologizing that they must have had the wrong house or something. (Yes, this actually happened).
