Thievery!

My wife’s car was broken into last Saturday as she was at a training session for her triathlon. Technically, it was my sister’s car, but my wife has been driving it for the last six months as my sister has been living on her sailboat in Mexico. Rough life, I know. The car was parked inconspicuously in a high school parking lot in a fairly affluent area of the peninsula, well within sight of a Saturday morning motorcycle class. Said parking lot was bordered on two sides by nicely-kept homes, with well-manicured grasses, bushes, and shrubberies—and by all appearances was probably the last place you’d expect to have one’s car window busted out and one’s belongings taken. Yet… Lo, upon my wife’s early return from the cycling portion of her training (flat tire again!) she finds exactly this! The window busted out and her belongings taken! iPod? Gone! Purse? Gone! Journal? Gone! Ahhhrg. Curse those good-for-nothing, haughty, Saturday-detention-getting, spoiled numbskulls. On the plus side, it wasn’t raining on Saturday. In fact, it was really nice out—a nice respite from this lingering soggy gloom we’ve been subject to.

Things I’ve learned this week:

  • Regarding dentistry, it’s not the needles that terrify me (as they did when I was younger), it is now the grinding I find horribly annoying. I’m not talking about the tiny, high pitched whine of the standard drill… but the slower, larger, grinding bit with which they felt necessary to rattle my skull.
  • Aside from having to record actual acoustic instruments, producing a traditional Celtic artist is fairly more straightforward than my normal faire.
  • If I’m not spending 2000 hours on an illustration, then I’m just being lazy.
