The Tweaks Continue Unabated

Dang. A whole week since my last post? Self, quit slacking off!

Actually, there’s been a fair amount of things going on behind the scenes. I continue to try to weed out all the little bugs and gremlins that are breaking my XHTML validation, and I’m learning a great deal in the process. At some point I just may have to re-code the entire site—just not any time soon, though. And… okay, I couldn’t resist monkey-ing around with the right-side columns on the front page. There was just a little something bugging my about how they didn’t exactly flow as intended, so I tweaked them just a little bit, got rid of the two sub-column thingys, and reordered the lists.

This week was fairly packed with mind-numbing activities… mostly on the professional front. Most of my time was eaten up in meeting after meeting regarding a fairly large projected concerning a certain unnamed technology company and a certain unnamed top secrete project at DR. I did get to break away for a day and a half and spend some time at the drawing table creating some concept sketches for another unnamed top secrete project for the very same unnamed technology company—and that was quite fun.

imageProgress continues (still) with MI. Another rehearsal this week—pounding away at a couple more new tunes, testing out new sample maps, tweaking drum sounds, fiddling bass knobs, and trying to preserve some semblance of enjoyment within this juggernaut of inertial inactivity. Details still forthcoming for LMS7, as well as another possible show in San Jose in May, so keep yer ears peeled. Update: Details and ticket information can be found here!

Some things I’ve learned this week:

  • p tags can be troublesome.
  • Watching he TV show American Inventor is like watching a horrible horrible horrible train wreck. Except nobody dies. Only marginally more comfortable than the first-round auditions on American Idol, this show has everything: comedy. Drama, suspens, horror, tragedy—most of the time all jumbled up together in a frightening little presentation! Long live the flatulence deodorizer!
  • The view from the hills behind out house is pretty cool. We moved about nine months ago, and I’m just now getting out and up into the Santa Teresa hills for a little hike. I even brought my camera.
  • The Machinist is a pretty frightening movie. Not so much for what actually happens, but more so for what you think will actually happen. And even more so after that because Christian Bale’s near-skeletal appearance gives me the willies.
  • Making sketches of the back of people’s heads during church gets old fast.
