The Botched Blog

Dusting Off

I haven’t been completely asleep at the wheel here in the Botched Blog world headquarters. I spent a week in beautiful Houston on business with DR… and the rest of the time I’ve been wasting by watching way too much TV. I caught myself off-guard with a impromptu burst of productivity last night, however… carving out a toe-hold on recording a bass track for Chris Cooper. A few weeks ago Chris sent me an .mp3 of a song on which he wanted me to play bass, so I loaded it into the computer last night, looped it up for a few listens, grabbed my bass off the wall and plugged it in… and off I went. For about a minute and a half. The bass trim knob on my fretless somehow came loose and was now spinning in place. A few minor repair-minutes later I was plugged back in and playing along, fumbling around and trying to pick a cool line out of thin air. Surprisingly, a few tasty nuggets presented themselves in the tracking process. Deciding not to push my luck… I promptly saved my session, threw a copy onto my backup drive, hung up my bass… and went to watch some more TV.
