My Poor Empty Sketchbook

image
My poor empty sketchbook. Just sitting in my bag all alone. Barely a mark in it. I always have such grand designs about how draw-tastic things are going to be when I start a new sketchbook. With the seemingly boundless possibilities presented by these fresh, pristine pages, one would think there’d be no end to the amazing images that would be conjured by by a mere pen or pencil. Alas, such sketching sorcery has yet to commence. I had even stocked up on a previous favorite… Canson Bonded Leather Journals… 5 1/2 in. x 7 1/2 in. Got a whole stack of them now. They’re all blank. Even the one I was supposed to start two months ago. What’s the matter with me? (I was feeling guilty, so I scribbled and painted the above skull while testing out a friend’s Wacom Cintiq 12wx!)

In other matters. I’ve been twittering. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been drawing. I got sucked into the shared stream-of-consciousness that is twitter by some fellow bass-heads (Steve Lawson, Jeff Schmidt, Trip Wamsley… the usual suspects)… and I must say some very inspiring thing have been coming out of there. Weird. Loads and loads of ideas for doing strange things with musical instruments.

And in yet more other matters… Design Reactor launched a new site… behold the global professional services firm of Navigant Consulting. I was the creative lead on this project for the last six months or so… and I must say, it was one of the smoothest launches I can remember! The client was extremely appreciative… to which my brand spankin’ new 16GB iPod touch can attest.
