Best Buddies Challenge

And in some non-studio related news….

====================

Hello Friends and Family and everybody in-between!

On the morning of Saturday, September 8, 2007 Christine and I will be riding our bikes along with hundreds of others down the Pacific Coast Highway from Carmel to the Hearst Castle in the Best Buddies Challenge. That’s about 100 miles. All in one day! All in support of Best Buddies and the more than 250 million people with intellectual disabilities.

Best Buddies is a non-profit organization founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver in 1989, dedicated to helping people with intellectual disabilities form friendships and find jobs in their community.

We are looking to you to help us reach our fundraising goal. Please consider making a contribution to our efforts to support this worthy cause. Unlike many fundraisers, 100% of the funds we raise will go directly to Best Buddies. Any contribution you can spare will go a long way to our achieving this goal… every little bit helps! And donating has never been easier! Just click on the link below to go to our team fundraising pages:

As many of you know, Christine was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease earlier this year. This has been a hinderance in her triathlon participation of late (no running… doctor’s orders!) so we were looking for an alternative. Given that Christine has spent the last year and a half working with the developmentally disabled through Cypress Independent Living Services… the best buddies challenge seemed perfect!

We are looking forward to completing this ride and making a difference in someone s life.  Thanks for your consideration!

  1. Cycling is an extremely efficient mode of transportation[5] optimal for short to moderate distances. Bicycles provide numerous benefits compared to motor vehicles, including exercise, an alternative to the use of fossil fuels, no air or noise pollution, much reduced traffic congestion and likelihood of causing a fatality, easier parking, greater maneuverability, and access to both roads and paths.
